His remarkable achievements have earned him numerous prestigious honors, including election to the National Academy of Sciences (1984), the International Academy of Quantum Molecular Science (1986), and fellowships in the American Physical Society (1988), American Association for the Advancement of Science (1990), and the Royal Society of Chemistry (2008). Bo-Qi ng Xu is a Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University and fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society. He completed his doctorate in physical chemistry of heterogeneous catalysis as a jointly educated Ph.D student of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Hokkaido University (Japan) in 1988. After working as a research associate at DICP for three years, he joined the faculty of the School of Chemical Engineering at Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and became a full Professor in 1992. After three years working in USA as a visiting scientist at the Catalysis Center in Northwestern University and a research associate at the School of Chemical Engineering in Georgia Tech, he was invited to join the faculty of his current university. His research interest mainly focuses on heterogeneous catalysis for sustainable chemistry in energy conversion, and production of chemicals and materials. He has authored 270 peer-reviewed papers and owns 30 patents. He serves/served as an associated editor of Carbon and Hydrogen (2024 -) and ACS Catalysis for six years (2014 - 2019), and has/had been an EAB member of a number of scientific journals including Chinese Journal of Catalysis, Applied Catalysis A, ACS Catalysis, Catalysts and Current Catalysts, and an international Advisory Board member of the International Acid-Base Catalysis Group and many international conferences. He has received a number of awards in China, including Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education and National Catalysis Award of the Chinese Catalysis Society.

Dr. Xiaolei Wang is currently a Canada Research Chair holder and a full professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta. He is leading his research team focusing on the rational design, development and application of novel advanced materials for energy-related technologies including lithium and other alkaline-ion batteries, lithium-metal and lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries, aqueous rechargeable batteries, battery recycling/upcycling/upgrading technologies, metal-air batteries, supercapacitors, and electrocatalytic systems. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA, 2013), M.Sc. at Tianjin University (TJU, 2007), and B.Sc. at Dalian University of Technology (DUT, 2004). Dr. Wang has published over 170 research papers in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and was recipient of many awards including Petro-Canada Young Investigator Award (2018), Concordia University Research Chair-Young Scholar (2019), Canada Research Chair (2023), and Mid-Career Research Award in Engineering at the UofA.
